I've known I was a writer ever since I sat at the kitchen table as an eight year old, concocting wild tales in rainbow felt tip.

Knowing you are and allowing yourself to be are two different things, however. It took many denials and deviations via advertising copywriting and academia to feel comfortable enough in my own skin to produce my first novel.

Your background, upbringing, language and dialect, travels, emotional experiences, beliefs and disillusions are what will make your writing unique - but they're also the things that can get in the way.

Being around people who also believe making things up is a legitimate adult activity can be the vital first step.

So, when you're ready... drop me a line here.

"You become a writer because you need to become a writer, nothing else."  Grace Paley
